Do not eat too many hard foods such as peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and ice. Most implant failures are due to trauma from eating too many nuts. For the first year you should not eat any hard foods to allow complete healing of the bone.
We request that you see us at least once a year for a professional exam and cleaning to decrease implant complications. For an accurate assessment of implant health, we need to probe and measure the gums around the implant, check and compare x-rays annually, look for looseness, and check the bite.
The daily care of dental implants is very similar to the care of natural teeth. Restored dental implants should be kept clean and plaque free twice a day using a small, soft manual/electric toothbrush and floss/inter-dental brushes to remove plaque between the teeth.
